Christmas song, CDs and fundraisers

November was a crazy month that started with my last-minute idea of doing a Christmas CD for family and friends before I left to go back to the U.S. on November 24. At first the idea was to simply record our favorite holiday songs. Then inspiration came in such a way that Andrés and I came up with two new songs. The first was sort of this bluesy something that evolved into being a song about climate change called “Santa’s In His Underpants This Year”. A few days after writing it, I came up with the idea to make it a fundraiser for some conservation-oriented NGO, The Nature Conservancy, which kindly accepted our offer to do a fundraiser in its name.

The other song, “Christmas Love, Christmas Light” is a soft ballad that seeks to express what Christmas is about….love, forgiveness, giving. I also wanted to make it a song that can speak to people who are Christian and also to those who are not, but value the practice of forgiving, giving, and loving. In that spirit, this song will be a gift to those who support our fundraiser and purchase "Santa's In His Underpants This Year".

In the end, we finished writing and recording the CD at 5 a.m. on November 24—the day that I left to go back to the U.S. Just in time!!!! Andrés finished the mixing and mastering in Buenos Aires.

It has been a lot of work, but all of it is worth the time and effort. It truly has been a labor of love (speaking in very such cliché terms). :-)
